ROI CALCULATOR · PLANNING DEFAULTS · INDUSTRY-AVG DATA

See your ROI before you commit. One minute. Property type. Size.

Pick a property type — retail, warehouse, HOA, dispensary, office, construction, event venue — and enter approximate square footage (or monthly revenue for event venues). We compare projected MPS monthly guard cost against industry-average unprotected-loss rates, side by side.

What we plan against

Each row carries the planning baseline we use for that property type — fully-loaded guard hourly rate, typical hours per 1,000 sqft per month, and the industry-average unprotected-loss $ / sqft · yr. The calculator below applies these ratios against your inputs.

Step 1 of 1

Plug in your site. Numbers recompute live.

Every figure updates the moment you change a field. We use industry-average unprotected-loss rates for “without guards” and the typical staffing posture for “with MPS coverage” — so a result here is a planning default, not a binding quote.

Step 1 · Profile your site

Tell us about the property.

Pick a property type and enter a size — square footage for most sites, monthly event revenue for venues. The math uses industry-average loss and guarding rates to estimate your monthly exposure.

Storefront footprint — sales floor plus back-of-house.

How exposed is this site versus the comparable baseline?

How the number is built

Methodology, sources, and what we’re not pretending to do.

The calculator is a planning tool, not a quote engine. Here’s the math, the assumptions, and the levers a real quote will turn differently than the ones we flip in this tool.

01 / 04

Loss rates are industry-average planning defaults

Numbers are calibrated from public loss data (NRF retail shrinkage, FBI UCR property crime, insurance industry per-sqft loss benchmarks) — not proprietary or marketing-staged. They include broader cost-of-crime: direct theft, insurance premium impact, business interruption, and brand / legal cost.

02 / 04

MPS cost is fully-loaded

Guard cost = wage + benefits + training + dispatch overhead + margin, at the typical staffing posture the supervisor on rotation recommends for a property of that type and size. Hourly rates assume a uniformed BSIS-licensed officer, not an unarmed monitor.

03 / 04

Site geometry wins

A real quote reflects hours of coverage, patrol vs. standing-post posture, dual-guard relief rotations, the threat profile of the surrounding block, and any regulatory requirements (fire-watch adjacency after-hours, cannabis Metrc, HOA gate-program specifics). The calculator gives you a target. Dispatch pins it to your site.

04 / 04

No fancy math

Monthly MPS cost = (sqft / 1,000) × hours-per-1,000-sqft × hourly rate. Monthly no-guard loss = sqft × annual rate ÷ 12, then × risk multiplier. The savings delta is loss minus cost — if that delta is positive across your entire input range, guarding pays for itself and then some.

Quick scan: what changes what

  • Footprint (sqft). Multiplies MPS cost AND unprotected loss linearly.
  • Property type. Sets the guard-hour-per-sqft baseline + the loss-rate baseline.
  • Risk profile. 1.0× baseline · 1.4× elevated · 1.85× high — multiplies loss only.
  • Hours of coverage (not in this tool). A real quote lets you pick standing vs. patrol vs. 24h dual-guard relief — the biggest cost lever.

What happens next

Submit your estimate and we’ll pin it to a real number: which metro you’re staffing for (we cover all seven California metros under PPO 126825), the post type (standing / patrol / lobby / event / executive / fire-watch), the hours of operation, and the go-live date.
